DIY Super Bouncy Ball at Home

How to Make a DIY Super Bouncy Ball at Home – Fun Science Craft for Kids
Prep Time7 minutes
Servings:1 medium-sized bouncy ball per batch

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon white PVA school glue do not use washable glue
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ teaspoon borax powder available in the laundry section
  • Food coloring bright or neon colors recommended
Optional Add-ins:
  • ¼ teaspoon cornstarch for extra bounce
  • Glow-in-the-dark paint for nighttime fun
  • Glitter for sparkle
Tools:
  • 2 small bowls
  • Mixing spoon
  • Ziplock bag for storage

Method

Prepare the Glue Mixture
  1. In your first bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of white glue with 1 tablespoon of water. Stir until smooth. Add a few drops of food coloring for a fun, vibrant effect.
Create the Borax Solution
  1. In a separate bowl, dissolve ½ teaspoon of borax in 1 tablespoon of warm water. Stir until the powder is fully dissolved.
Mix to Activate
  1. Slowly pour the borax solution into the glue mixture while stirring. The mixture will begin to thicken and clump together. Stir until it forms a gel-like consistency.
Knead the Ball
  1. Remove the mixture from the bowl and knead it with your hands for 1–2 minutes. It should become firmer and no longer sticky. Shape it into a ball. Smaller balls bounce better!
Let It Set
  1. Let the ball sit for about 10 minutes to firm up before bouncing it on a hard surface. Then get ready to test your creation!
