Canadian Bannock

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups water approx.
  • Oil or butter for frying optional

Method
 

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add water to form a soft dough.
  3. Shape the dough into rounds or flat discs.
  4. Fry on a greased skillet for 5-7 minutes per side until golden, or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes.
  5. Serve warm with butter, jam, or honey
